Alberta’s wasp boom creating a seasonal influx in ER admissions
Landscapers in Alberta are facing a growing hazard in their workplace: wasps.
Calgary gardener Jolene Post has faced the threat with a few stings recently. “I’ve gotten a couple, including one right under my nose," she said. But the threat isn’t just noticeable by those working outside but pharmacists and emergency room doctors as well.
“Over the course of the last two weeks, definitely an increase in consultation at the pharmacy for wasp bite” says pharmacist Mathieu Giroux.
