President Cyril Ramaphosa has stood by the costs associated with his Imbizos, labeling them as “money well spent,” amid a wave of criticism regarding the R44 million spent on four meetings in eight months. This controversy has resulted in the civil society organization #NotInMyName laying a complaint with the public protector. Not In My Name International's Siyabulela Jentile says the government should spend money on service delivery for communities instead of hosting an Imbizo to listen to their frustrations.
