Zimbabwe youth use soccer betting to mitigate effects of unemployment
Dr Martin Magidi, a researcher at UCT’s African Centre for Cities, has conducted research which examines how young men in urban Zimbabwe used soccer betting to mitigate the effects of unemployment and to earn an income. Magidi says some of the young people indicated they would quit betting if they were to get employment.
