Here are the most useful new Blender 2.92 features relevant to architecture and architecture visualization (archviz). Also, be sure to check out my course on architectural design with blender: https://gumroad.com/l/b3darch. What are your new favourite features? What new features would like to see?
In this video, you can find out the most exciting new features in the recently released version of Blender 2.92. They include cycles speed improvements, the ability to use ambient occlusion and bevel shader nodes with Optix in Cycles, speeding up the time it takes to preview and render architectural diagrams and visualizations.
The big new feature, however is Geometry Nodes - Blender's answer to Grasshopper. Well, not quite, as in the moment, it is geared more towards particles and scattering grass, and tress, but it offers a lot of potential already and super excited about having out-of-the box procedural workflows within Blender itself. As Blender already offers non-destructive and procedural geometrical operations useful for architectural design with the modifiers, the great news is that the geometry nodes sits within the modifiers so it can be used in together within familiar workflows with other modifiers. This gives blender as strong root within parametric design and computational workflows without the need of explicit scripting!
There are additional useful updates that improve the who UI experience, like outline improvements, ability to see what's linked and better understanding of library overrides from linked files and models. This is all in preparation for the upcoming asset manager that will be released in Blender 2.93! Lots to look forward to!
Be sure to checkout @Erindale who is the geometry nodes whiz, so definitely will need to pay attention to what he is doing for parametric design.
