East Catholic's Luke and Samson Reilly: Coach's kids, future coaches
The Reillys may be the first family of high school basketball in Connecticut. And now the family tree, which began with Joe Reilly winning multiple state titles at South Catholic in Hartford, has a new addition.
Luke and Samson Reilly, Joe’s grandsons and sons of four-time state championship coach Luke Reilly at East Catholic, spent time with The Day and GameDay recently about their role as starters on their dad’s defending state championship team this season.
They will be front and center at the second Day Holiday Classic on Dec. 19 at Mohegan Sun Arena. East Catholic will play Notre Dame of West Haven at 4 p.n. in a rematch of last season’s CIAC Div. I final. St. Bernard and Hand follow at 6 p.m. in a rematch of the 2022 Div. III semifinal. New London renews its rivalry with Norwich Free Academy at 8.
