Rust-Oleum's Tub & Tile Refinishing Kit lets you paint bathtubs and tile, giving it a new look without the cost of replacing it.
See how we refinished a bathtub and wall tile with this epoxy coating in 6 steps:
1. Remove the existing caulk between the bathtub and adjacent tile.
2. Use a bleach solution to remove any mildew from your tub and tile. Scrub the surfaces with an abrasive pad, and then rinse and wipe dry. Sand the tile with 400- to 600-grit sandpaper, and use a tack cloth to wipe clean. Remove the tub's metal drain. Use painter's tape to cover the wall around the tiles you're going to coat. Place a tarp on the floor and over surrounding walls and fixtures to protect them from accidental splashes.
3. Pour Part A from the Rust-Oleum Tub & Tile kit into Part B, and mix thoroughly with a stir stick. Pour the mixed solution into a paint tray.
4. Open windows or use a fan to ventilate the area. Use a small paint roller to apply the first coat. Brush around edges where needed. Cover the can and paint tray to keep the remaining coating from drying between coats.
5. Follow the same technique to apply a second coat. Allow to dry overnight.
6. Re-caulk the seams. Let everything cure for 3 days before rehanging a shower curtain or using the shower/bathtub.
