Creality Ender 6 3D Printer auto home not working - solved.
Auto home not working is a problem some creality ender 6 users run into after assembly, especially 3d printing beginners and people new to 3d printing. The motor gets stuck and is unresponsive. Text on the ender 6 display says auto home please wait for minutes. For me it extruder moved on the x axis and y axis, but did not move on the z axis. The extruder was stuck and unresponsive! So for me, auto home kept running forever and my 3d printing plans seemed far away.
First I double checked all the cables, of course I also tried to turn the machine on and off and double checked the power voltage settings. Then I started to research, should I update some software or refresh the motherboard firmware? The issue was solved when I found a cable for the z motor under the machine! I did not find this cable in the manual. After connecting the cable for the z axis, auto home did work and I could level the bed. The z motor and z axis did not work because the cable was not plugged in! This fixed the issue with auto home being stuck and unresponsive and the z axis not moving.
