On Episode 46 of BPerryFilms Podcast, I share my experience of being a Content Creator on YouTube. In this video, I go into some of the highs and lows that I have experienced on this platform. Some Topics I discuss are Finding Your Niche, Production Techniques Required, Monetization Process, Collaboration, and Dealing With Burnout. At each stage, you are at when growing on any platform there is a learning curve. I do explain that each niche channel is subjected to many factors as to the pace of your channel growth. Building Relationships and being consistent are some of the many skills that I had to learn to master the more I posted and gained more credibility.

Keep note many brands look at engagement and how many views you have on your channel over the watch hours. This could be discouraging when trying to find sponsors or guests to collaborate with because they are looking for high numbers of followers. I believe in my opinion watch hours are more important because not only will it help you find out if people are engaged with your content but will also help drive more traffic to your channel making people want to subscribe.

The standard requirement to get monetized on YouTube as of 2024 is that you must have 1000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours within a 365 days time frame. Yes, it can be hard and challenging but as long as you post when necessary you can scale. My recommendation is to start off posting every other week. Also, try to make your content between 10 to 20 minutes if you are doing sit down videos or vlogs. For the podcast, I recommend no longer than 45 to 60 minutes unless it is necessary or if you have more than 2 guests this will lower the risk of people who view your content from getting bored and clicking off.
