If you use #FortiGate as a router or a #Firewall, you have two options to access your device. You could access it via web browser or if you prefer Command Line Interface (#CLI), you could do SSH (given that SSH is enabled on the interface you are trying to login to). If you access your device using SSH, you could access it by using username/password or you could use more secure way of logging into device by utilizing public key cryptography. When implementing public key cryptography, you generate a public/private key pair in your client machine and upload the public key to the SSH server (FortiGate in this case) and access the machine without entering password. So, in this video, I am going to show you how to generate a key pair on a client machine (Ubuntu Linux) and setup a public key on the server (FortiGate firewall) to authenticate using public key which is also known as SSH key-based authentication method.
