In this video, we will talk about expanding the root partition inside Linux machine which is installed as a Virtual Machine inside VirtualBox. 1:58 Extend the disk using VirtualBox Manager
8:10 Open gparted on Linux to extend the partition
Windows command for VirtualBox to extend the disk size.
You would have to navigate to the program files folder where the VirtualBox is installed and then issue the command. First command works for both newer and older version of VirtualBox and if the first command doesn't work for you, try the second one.
vboxmanage modifyhd "c:\users\user_folder\VirtualBox VMs\Kali Linux\Kali Linux.vdi" - -resize [new size in MB]
vboxmanage modifymedium disk "c:\users\user_folder\VirtualBox VMs\Kali Linux\Kali Linux.vdi" - -resize [new size in MB]
Note - You would have to replace the name of Linux folder and the name of vdi file to match with your machine name and file.
