Chalk Drawing Art - Photoshop Tutorial!
In this Photoshop tutorial, we'll transform a photo into a stunning chalk drawing using Photoshop. Choose a portrait photo and open it with a chalkboard background photo in Photoshop.
Open both photos in Photoshop.
Drag the portrait photo onto the background, resize it with CTRL/CMD+T, and hit Enter.
Right-click the layer, convert it to a smart object, and rename it "chalk fill."
Duplicate the layer (Ctrl-J/Command-J) and rename the duplicated layer "chalk outline."
Reset the color chips (press D, then X) to default black and white.
Select the "chalk outline" layer and go to Filter - Filter Gallery.
In the dialog box, choose Sketch - Photocopy. Set Detail to 7 and Darkness to 24. Click OK.
Change the blend mode of the "chalk outline" layer to Screen.
Activate the "chalk fill" layer and go to Filter - Filter Gallery.
In the dialog box, choose Sketch - Graphic Pen. Set Stroke Length to 2 and Light/Dark Balance to 9. Click OK.
Set the blend mode of the "chalk fill" layer to Screen.
Group the "chalk outline" and "chalk fill" layers (Ctrl-G/Command-G) and add a layer mask to the group.
Add noise to the layer mask by going to Filter - Noise - Add Noise. Set the Amount to 50% and Distribution to Uniform.
Double-click the filter names to adjust the settings later if needed.
That's it! You've transformed your photo into a chalk drawing. Compare the before and after effects.
