Big win for security forces in J&K, 3 terrorists eliminated amid bad weather, difficult terrain
Three terrorists were killed in a joint anti-infiltration operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district, officials said on August 29. The operation was launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir police following intelligence inputs regarding likely "infiltration bids", on the intervening night of August 28-29 in the general area of Tangdhar, Kupwara. "We were receiving information for the last several days that terrorists would try to infiltrate from across the Line of Control. Yesterday, on the 28th August, our intelligence reported that this infiltration would take place from the areas of Tangdhar and Machhal. This info was confirmed by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. After the confirmation, the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the BSF together laid ambushes and at around 8 pm, while terrorists were trying to infiltrate in the area of Machhal, an encounter started between them and our ambush party. The encounter started at around 9 pm in the area of Tangdhar as well. During these two operations, 2 terrorists were killed in Machhal and 1 terrorist in Tangdhar. Apart from this, it is also reported that 1 terrorist has been badly injured in this operation in Tangdhar. These operations were conducted in difficult terrain and in bad weather. I congratulate all the security forces for this success...," says a senior army official
