This is the brand new 24-50 f2.8 Full Frame G lens by Sony. It’s got Sony’s latest high thrust linear focus motors to keep up with features like 120fps bursts on the a9iii , an 11 bladed constant f2.8 aperture, de-clickable aperture ring and weather sealing all in a package barely larger than a 20mm prime.

It’s going on sale for $1099 USD - less than HALF the price of the 24-70 GM ii ! The lens will become available some time in May 2024.
Versus a classic 24-70, this lens is much smaller and lighter while still delivering incredible low light performance and smooth out of focus areas.
And while the barrel does extend, the lens is light enough to use the entire focal range while on a gimbal, without having to re-balance.
I think paring this lens with something like the A7CR makes an incredible travel camera.
...Honestly, this is kind of a G Master killer and I wonder how to justify spending over a thousand dollars US more on the 24-70...
