Creating Art with AI - Ep. 1.6 - Managing Your Expectations
What can you reasonably expect from Stable Diffusion?
When I first started generating images, I was completely amazed with the creativity and artistic skill of the model. It’s incredibly inspiring!
As I moved past just “messing around” with the model, and started actually trying to create specific pieces of artwork (usually something I wanted to make for a friend), I ran into problems.
I made a lot of attempts at adjusting my prompt and the settings, and generating a lot of examples, but could never quite get something I was satisfied with.
I’ve since learned that you’re unlikely to get a problem-free image from Stable Diffusion using only a text prompt, unless you’re generating certain types of art that it manages well (portraits being the biggest example).
Understanding what SD can do well vs. not will hopefully spare you the frustration of manipulating your prompt over and over, trying to get the model to cooperate and create something that’s really just too complex for it currently.
Over the course of this series, though, we’ll be looking at ways we can try and overcome these limitations!
