A resonant mesh head with a jack plug cable applied that makes converting an acoustic drum kit easier. Internal trigger systems cannot be connected as easy when applied into closed shells. Standart air vents are simply too small to mount a jack plug. Removing them and applying the jack plug can be a hassle. Even fiddling a cable trough the vent is not the best solution.
The heads jackplug is held by 2 aluminium discs which are applied to a single ply mesh head. R-Drums used as always only the best materials. The long cable leads to an angled stereo jack, that is getting plugged into the trigger. Every plug head comes with a cable clamp including screw.
We use the plug head on a 13“ shell, and apply it before mounting the top mesh head. We treat the head like a normal head and tune it a good bit. The tension should not be too high, it is only a resonant head and will not be played anyway.
We plug it into this intrigger. The cable clamp can be applied at one of the lugs. This cable clamp comes in handy especially on small shells, as it helps to prevent the cable from slagging around. The top head is getting installed and we are done. The jack plug makes a solid impression and enables an easy jack cable insertion. A resonant head helps to slightly decrease the acoustic noise. An open shell is always more noisy.
We try to use the plug head on a flat shell too. We need this adapter as the Flextrigger has a small jack plug. The goal is to apply the plug head without removing the top mesh head. The cable will be led around the center of the trigger and be installed by 2 cable clamps. This is kind of tricky, but possible.
This is by far the best solution if you want to convert acoustic drums into electronic drums. You don’t need to damage the shells and the conversion can be reversed. The only tool that is needed is a screwdriver. The plug head is available in all sizes from: 8-16“. You can even buy bundles for a full drum kit.
