100 Thieves co-owner Courage revealed that his “f**k the mechs” clip going viral cost him his job as a Fortnite caster.
People have always wondered why Courage, who casted the first FNCS
Championshisp and Fortnite World Cup, suddenly stopped casting Fortnite after Season X. Courage has literally never cast another Fortnite event or any Epic Games event since, despite being a huge supporter of Fortnite and his newfound love of Rocket League, and he has finally revealed why.
The 100 Thieves co-owner says that his viral “F**k the mechs!” clip, where Courage screams about the mechs and how they were ruining Fortnite, upset a lot of people behind the scenes at Epic. Apparently the company said they wouldn’t use Courage as a caster for season X, and would reassess after the season ended...and he hasn’t been asked to do a single event since.
So the moral of this story seems to be, if you are being paid to cast and commentate events for a game, don’t have a viral clip destroying the newest addition to that game start making the rounds if you want to keep your job. At least Courage seemed to land on his feet, with his streaming career and of course 100 Thieves seeming to get bigger and bigger every day.
