Sometimes the partner you once fell for is no longer the person who completes you. People set out with the best intention to find love and have a healthy partnership and may find that for a period of time with a certain person, but as life passes by and feelings shift, you may realize that as much as it hurts- you may no longer be in the right match for long term companionship, fulfillment and happiness with that parter.
Relationships take work, consideration and compromise. Sometimes partners slack and after a while it makes the relationship lose its luster. You may still even have a sense of comfort with this person, love and companionship, but there is a loneliness and a feeling that you have turned into roommates. This is when you have to ask yourself if this is still working for you? Is this the future you want? Is the pain of the breakup worth the outcome or is it easier to stay and be unfulfilled? These are big question with a variety of outcomes.
If you are feeling lonely, unfulfilled and you still care about your partner, it can make you paralyzed to make a move that could lead you to a more fulfilling future. When we still have respect and care for our partner we feel as if it's wrong to leave. We feel as if we need to be in a physically or emotionally abusive situation in order to justify leaving a relationship.
I want you to know that your life is precious. Your time is precious and your happiness in invaluable. Although the decision may be hard, the outcome on the other side is worth the pain it takes to get there. Letting go of a roommate like relationship allows you to open up to new experiences, new love and an opportunity to seek a future where you will be fulfilled and appreciated.
