On a Mac, you have several options for taking screenshots:
1. Full Screen Screenshot

Command + Shift + 3: Takes a screenshot of the entire screen and saves it to your desktop.

2. Selected Portion Screenshot

Command + Shift + 4: Changes the cursor to a crosshair. Click and drag to select the area you want to capture. The screenshot is saved to your desktop.

3. Specific Window Screenshot

Command + Shift + 4, then Spacebar: Press Command + Shift + 4, then press the Spacebar. The cursor will turn into a camera icon. Click on the window you want to capture, and it will be saved to your desktop.

4. Screenshot Toolbar (macOS Mojave and later)

Command + Shift + 5: Opens a toolbar at the bottom of your screen, with options to capture the entire screen, a selected window, or a custom portion. It also has video recording options and lets you choose where to save the file.

5. Copy Screenshot to Clipboard

Add Control to any command: To copy a screenshot to your clipboard instead of saving it, hold the Control key along with the other keys. For example, Command + Shift + Control + 4 to capture a selected portion to your clipboard.

After taking a screenshot, you’ll see a thumbnail in the corner of your screen where you can click to edit or move the screenshot if desired.
