Since the discovery, in 2003 on the island of Flores, the remains of dwarf hominids, a man of flora (Homo floresiensis) or hobbits, in the cave of Liang Bois, nicknamed so because of their small growth, a lot of questions have accumulated. Who are these hominids? How did they evolve, where did they come from and with what famous species they are connected, including modern man? Considering the fact that at the moment all attempts to extract DNA have failed. Flores Island was inhabited at different times, including even more ancient than the age of the hobbits. Archaeological evidence of the hominid population of the island is from 1 million years ago, with the age of a floresque from 100 to 60 thousand years. In 2014, in another place of the island - Mata Menge, a fragment of the lower jaw and six isolated teeth were found, approximately 700 thousand years old, similar in size and morphological characteristics to the Flores man. In this case, some finds indicate the appearance on the island, just under 50 thousand years ago, a reasonable person. What prompted some scientists to think about the extermination of ancient dwarf people, came sapiens. All this added puzzles to the identification of ancient island inhabitants. In addition, the population of the island is still relatively small, about 145 cm, in the village of Rampasas, whose representatives are often called pygmies. In a new study, scientists decided to find out whether there are admixtures of unknown archaic people in the modern inhabitants of the island of Flores, in addition to the Neanderthals and Denisovan, since DNA has not yet been identified. And also to find out what factors influenced their small growth.
