The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on Tuesday appointed Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan as head of the constitutional bench in the Supreme Court.
JCP, led by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, constituted the constitutional bench in a 7-5 split decision, with the majority of members voting in favor of Justice Ameen ul din Khan . As per the 26th Constitutional Amendment, the Judicial Commission comprises 13 members. Earlier , Shortly after receiving the National Assembly’s nod, the Senate on Monday passed the bill and acting president Yousaf Raza Gillani singed the bill seeking amendments to the laws that deal with all three branches of the armed forces, extending the fixed tenure of services chiefs up to five years. It means Army Chief General Asim Munir will serve until 2027 following the recent approval of amendments to the Army Act. Shehbaz Sahrif Government has secured victory on almost all fronts.
