How to Remove Gridlines from Microsoft Word Tables

We’re not talking about the borders in a Word table – this is about the outline that remains visible when you remove all of the borders.

To remove the gridlines in a Word table you follow these steps:

1. Click in one of the table cells. You may need to click twice.
2. In the menu at the very top of the screen you should now see a “Table Design” tab.
3. Click the Table Design menu tab.
4. Go to the far right of the screen and click on “Borders”.
5. When the list comes up go to the very bottom and click on “View Gridlines”

This will remove those very annoying grid lines, or ghost borders as I call them, from your table. If you want the lines back in your table, follow the same process and when you click on View Gridlines the lines will return.
