I am Hydlide of Reasonexperts
Today I wanted to share a topic related to waveforms and their aliasing. I am telling this story because from a sound design perspective this might be an important topic to know.
It can be seen as a weakness, but it also has it's strengths (more on that in a later video I guess).
While I have been thinking about how to present this subject, I wanted to show case how I would 'simplify' the workflow to show case the difference between a non aliased waveform vs an aliased waveform.
Hence the tools of choice I am showcasing. Because these tools are easy available to the public.
Skope is a rack extension I often use to see what a waveform is doing when I do certain things (eg: amplitude modulation would be one of them).
Audacity is an external audio editing tool that probably needs no indroduction.
Sure I will admit, there are better tools out there to get the job done.
Anyways, I find this an interesting topic to say the least. At least this might give an answer on why for instance a saw wave from Thor sounds different then for instance the saw wave from Europa.
Have an awesome weekend!
