I am Hydlide of reasonexperts. Today I am going to do a reason tutorial about layering a kickdrum. This video is a follow up on an event that I took a part of last weekend. There was a talk session about layering a bass drum using a redrum.
So I thought, I would just do my take on this subject matter just as additional info on how you can layer a bass drum the Hydlide 2.0 approach.
The main key element would be to have different type of bass drum sounds that would emphasize the starting point of the drum differently just to create a punch effect.
You can then later use a compressor (let it be parallel compression) to reshape the dynamics of the bassdrum.
Then you need a body layer, which will be the 'normal' drum. Yet this layer can also be changed in different directions (as I will show case in this video).
And last, I am adding a noise wave form, just to give that starting point of the sound that little extra 'oomph' and 'pizzazz'.
Anyways, have a nice weekend!
I am sure I will... New construction options... building... unable to comply building in progress
That's a hint ;)
