Russian separatists capture Ukrainian armored troop carriers as East Ukraine unrest escalates
Tensions continue to rise in Ukraine as six armored troop carriers entered the eastern town of Slaviansk on Wednesday carrying the Russian national flag. The men on the troop carriers were armed with Kalashnikov rifles and grenade launchers -- the origin of the troops and their allegiance was not immediately clear. There was no sign of Ukrainian troops in the city despite an announcement by Kyiv authorities yesterday that a military-backed "anti-terrorist" operation was being extended to Slaviansk after military action in Kramatorsk.
