Linda Lavin, the beloved Tony-winning actress famous for her role in the sitcom Alice, has passed away at the age of 87. Her publicist confirmed that Lavin died unexpectedly on December 29, 2024, due to complications from recently discovered lung cancer. Lavin was renowned for her portrayal of Alice Hyatt in the CBS sitcom Alice, which ran from 1976 to 1985. She won two Golden Globe Awards and earned an Emmy nomination for her role. In addition to her television career, Lavin was a celebrated stage actress, winning a Tony Award in 1987 for her performance in Neil Simon's Broadway Bound. She is survived by her husband, actor Steve Bakunas.
