Pope Francis expressed his condolences and prayers for Spain following catastrophic floods that claimed at least 158 lives, marking the worst weather disaster in the country's modern history. The floods, caused by the storm Dana, resulted in a year's worth of rain falling within just eight hours, leading to significant destruction in Valencia, where 500 soldiers have been deployed for search and rescue efforts. The Pope also extended his support to Chad, where around 40 soldiers were killed in an attack by insurgents in the Lake region, which has faced ongoing violence from groups like Boko Haram and ISIS in West Africa.
