I'll show you how to extract vocals from any song in just a few clicks. In fact, you can extract drums, synthesizers, bass, guitars or simply separate acapellas from the instrumental.
I think that's a great learning tool for music producers and performers, the fact that you can isolate any element from a song and really zoom in individually.
I use that all the time. Some other people use it for remixes, for practicing singing. So here we go.
My favorite tool for this task is something I can't even pronounce, but I've been calling it. LALALAI. LA-LA-LAI?
It's the most precise instrument separation tool I've seen so far.
Before, I was using Izotope RX 9, and it's good, but not as good as this one.
The only downside is that, when you register in their website, you only get 10 minutes of extraction for free, and after that you kinda have to buy credits.
But for me it's worth it because of its high quality.
Now, if you register through the link in the description below this video, you'll get 10 extra minutes.
So you'll have 20 free minutes worth of vocal extraction to test the tool.
And I get 5 minutes, which I always appreciate.
Alright, so let me show you how to use it. It's pretty simple, but just in case someone gets stuck, let's do it step by step.
I'm going to pick one of my songs, and separate vocals from instrumental, then we'll see how well this AI performs.
Alright, when you first access their website, you click log in and type your email to create an account.
They will send you a confirmation email. Then you have to click on the link to get started.
Once that's done, it's ready for you to upload any song you'd like to extract vocals.
I'll upload my own song "Maybe Tomorrow" to avoid copyright issues.
The stem separation type will be Vocal and Instrumental, and after it's done, we'll listen and decide if the website did a good job.
Alright, the AI gave us a preview of the final product, and we can already listen and get an idea of what it will sound like.
Sounds pretty good so far, right? it has some small artifacts, a bit of phasing, but that's understandable.
I'll go ahead and click process the entire file so we can download both files — instrumental and vocals — to check them out in my DAW.
Took a couple of minutes splitting the entire file. And it's done!
Now click "Download all".
Okay, I just loaded both files in my DAW.
On top, we have the instrumental, at the bottom we have the vocals track.
I'll pick a random section of the song that has lots of vocals, and play the instrumental first, then the vocals, and let you make your own conclusions.
So, maybe starting here around bar number thirty. Let's see how it goes.
Clearly it does a much better job than anything else I've tested. But I'd like to hear your opinions too, feel free to let me know what you think in the comments below.
Of course it's not perfect, I believe separating stems is a very hard task for any software.
So if you'd like to take advantage of that, make sure to register using the link in this video's description. That way, you and I will score some extra minutes.
Also, if you're interested in artificial intelligence that can help you with music production and songwriting, check out this next video, where I made a song using lyrics written by another AI, for free, and you can do the same.
Here's the video!
