To Make Aval Kozhukattai
Poha -2 Cups
Oil - 2tbsp
Chana Dal - 1 Tsp
Urad Dal - 1 Tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1 Tsp
Cumin Seeds - 1 Tsp
Onion - 1 No.
Ginger
Green Chilli - 1 No.
Salt 1 Tsp
Hing / Asafoetida - 1/4 Tsp
Curry Leaves
Coriander Leaves
Coconut - 1 Cup
Method
Take two cups of poha, wash it well and soak it for one hour.
To a pan, add two tbsp of oil, one tsp of chana dal, one tsp of
urad dal, one tsp of mustard seeds, and one tsp of cumin seeds
and fry well.
Add finely chopped onion, finely chopped ginger and one
finely chopped green chilli and fry till the onions turn golden
color
Then add one tsp of salt, Quarter tsp of asafoetida, finely
chopped curry leaves and finely chopped coriander leaves.
Add one cup freshly grated coconut to it, mix well, turn off
the stove and keep aside.
Now in a big bowl, add the soaked poha and tempered
ingredients and mix it all till they are well combined.
Start making dumplings and put them on the plate.
Now steam the prepared dumplings in an idli cooker for 10
minutes.
Soft and moist dumplings are ready to be served nice and hot.
