FreeSchool Presents: a closer look at komodo dragons. Komodo dragons are one of .1% of vertebrate species that are able to reproduce via parthenogenesis. This peculiar adaptation may allow komodos to spread to isolated habitats they would otherwise be unable to populate. Komodo dragons are also unjustly accused of having mouths so dirty that their bites will cause the victim to die of infection. Instead, they have venom that causes blood pressure to drop, encourage bleeding, and prevent clotting. As a result, any prey not killed outright usually dies of blood loss.
