Friction is a force that appears almost everywhere! It is produced when surfaces rub against each other. We rely on friction in our everyday lives. Friction between the bottom of your shoe and the floor allows you to walk. Friction between your hand and the doorknob is what allows you to turn it. Friction between the brake and the wheel is what stops a bike. Friction can be helpful or harmful, and too much or too little can cause serious problems. (Have you ever slipped on ice? Not enough friction!)
