Was Georgy Zhukov over-rated? Did he deserve a seat in the Soviet Stavka? And most important of all, was Konstantin Rokossovsky better?

I tackle some of these questions in this new podcast series dedicated to stand alone discussion of the Great Patriotic war, in anticipation of my Operation Bagration documentary. Feel free to listen to this while playing games, driving your car, or commuting to work. I have tried my best to reduce my room echo and to improve the sound quality. So rather than being a video focusing on the visuals this is focusing on the audio aspect.

Unlike my 'feats of history' podcast, this series does not involve interviews or discussions with other individuals. It is pretty much a way of updating everyone on the documentary, whilst still holding academic discussion surrounding the events and commanders of the Great Patriotic War.

Here I argue that Zhukov partially deserves his recognition for his planning expertise in Operation Bagration, the battle of Khalkin Gol, his defense of Moscow, among other things. I also tackle the negative reputation he incurred due to Operation Mars in the Rhzev Salient.

All music is mine. I hope you enjoy.

[Corrections // Extra Information]
13:37 - The Cherkassy pocket was actually formed in February 1944, not late 1943.
16:25 - The 1940 Moscow War Games were actually won by Zhukov who was the commander of the opposing team versus the Soviet 'red' team. It was a decisive defeat.
