Foundation Impressions | Ye Olde Cities Skylines And 2019’s Best Early Access Game Yet
Alice is a big fan of Foundation. No, this isn’t a video about which is the best high street foundation, this is an introduction to Foundation, Alice’s favourite new city builder by Polymorph Games. It’s like Cities Skylines meets Black & White and that’s exactly why you should care about it. Here are her Foundation impressions.
Join Alice as she goes through her own introduction to the early access city builder that has a calming soundtrack and great windmill noises. Our Foundation gameplay hopefully gives you the basics. Foundation is gridless, but instead has hexagonal shapes making up its map, much like Civilization. It’s here to focus on the beginnings of the old cities that shaped the ones we live in today. It has full mod support, and already has a few you can play around with. Is this an early contender for Alice’s Game Of The Year 2019? It’s definitely the best Early Access game of 2019 so far. If you're looking for games like Cities Skylines, this should definitely scratch that itch.
This isn’t a full Foundation review, as we hold off on that while the game is in Early Access. You could call it a Foundation early access review, but you got to give it room to grow before making any big judgements. Alice starts bringing home the bread, building bridges wrong, and of course spawns twenty too many sheep. She needs to feed her people, rally her troops, and trade with neighbouring cities to be successful, but will she manage? Set in oldy worldy Europe, Foundation is a good way to forget about current Europe and the horrible mess that is unfurling in front of our eyes. Sure, they may not have had plumbing back then but at least they didn’t have Brexit.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the tranquil sounds of Foundation, and sorry about the untranquil sounds of Alice’s voice. We’re working on it.
