The Witcher 3’s long awaited next-gen update has arrived for PC and its effect on the game is pretty disappointing. Not only does the addition of ray tracing cause substantial performance issues, it appears to us that the update has decreased general performance across the board regardless of whether you’re using these new features or not.
All footage for this video was captured on my PC at 1080p. I have a RTX 3080, an i9 processor and 32gb of RAM. I captured footage of the game running with various settings applied but unless stated otherwise the game was running on RT Ultra mode, which sets everything to its upper limit, with DLSS on quality mode and the frame rate capped at 60fps.
