On the 26th of December 1944, Hiroo Onoda would be sent to the Lubang (lu-bung) Island in the Philippines with orders to do everything in his power to stop the advancing Americans.

When he landed, it was understood that under no circumstances were the soldiers allowed to take their own life or surrender to the enemy. With these orders and his commitment to the cause, Hiroo Onoda would engage in guerilla warfare for close to thirty years after World War Two ended.

During this time, all efforts to convince Hiroo the war was over would fail. Hiroo believed Japan would never surrender and defeat was only possible when the last Japanese person had been killed. This is the story of Hiroo Onoda, the man who fought and lived in the jungle for 29 years.
