Below are the steps that I recommend to improve your rankings
1) Scan your GMB (Google My Business) account using Local Falcon for your target keyword + radius. You want to do this first since this will be your baseline to see if you are improving your rankings on Google Maps
2) Choose the correct primary category
3) Get a business address. From my experience, you will rank faster (and longer) in Google Maps with a physical address than being a service area business. If you are looking for better rankings and are a service area business, I recommend getting a storefront business address. I do that for TM Blast, so I see the value in doing that for my business
4) Add photos of the team working
5) Get reviews on GMB. As a note, I don't see reviews as a top 5 local ranking factor, but it is number 6 for me. Getting reviews is essential to build trust for users and keep your account fresh
6) Review your hours against your competitors. Being open vs. being closed does impact local SEO rankings on Google
7) Get a local area phone number. I recommend all of my local SEO clients do this. Getting a local area phone number can lead to a higher CTR since users will be familiar with that area code
8) Create a product listing section. The product listing section will highlight your services with a description and a link to your website
9) Create groupings for the products
10) Ask and answer questions
11) Write a business description that highlights what you do. Consider putting your target keywords somewhere in this description
12) Share regular updates on what your business is doing. For example, a junk removal company can share that they will be in Albany, NY, removing junk. You can then put in a CTA for users to click on that card and call the company directly
13) List off relevant social profiles to push your competitors further down on the page (especially on mobile)
14) Create online entities. You want to list your business on as many third-party sites as possible.
15) Have that target keyword as a dedicated service page on your website
16) Go to networking events and build your brand. Pass out your business card and promote the service with actual events
17) Re-run the Local Falcon scan on that target keyword to see if you are improving your rankings
18) Use the Local Falcon competitor graph to see if you are taking market share away from a competitor
19) Look at the competitor tab in Local Falcon to see who is ranking
20) Use Local Falcon to do a manual comparison for quick gap changes to rank better
21) Re-run your Local Falcon scan to look at your latest rankings
As a note, I offer local SEO services to companies. Most of my clients see a noticeable improvement in rankings between months 3-6. If you are struggling to improve your Local Rankings on Google, feel free to contact me at TM Blast
