Finding Zone value any location in Google Earth
Open Google Earth, and move to a particular point for which you want to find out the latitude and longitude. You may observe that Google will be showing the respective latitude and longitude in the status bar. It is difficult to make the note of latitude and longitude just by reading as the values keep changing with a slight movement of the mouse pointer. Google earth has a provision to help you note the point value. Select “Copy view location” from the edit menu. Now the point values are copied to the clipboard which you can paste in any application say notepad.
You may note that now the values that are copied are in decimal degrees. You have the option to copy the values in “Decimal Degree”, “Degrees, Minutes, Seconds”, “Degree, Decimal Minutes” and “Universal Transverse Mercator” i.e., UTM. This option can be set by selecting Options from the Tools menu. When you set “UTM” and navigate in Google Earth. Google earth shows the point position in Zone, Easting, and Northing value. So, to find the zone value of a point, set the “UTM” option under tools in Google Earth.
Thank you, in the next video you will learn how to create KML file in Google Earth.
