In this, the third video in my mini series on Linux essentials, I cover 4 topics of what I believe are the most useful things to know when using the Linux CLI.
I walk through htop, what it is, how it's laid out, and which parts of it are most important to pay attention to. I show you how to search, filter and order the process list for quickly getting the perspective you need on your running processes, and I also show how to kill a process you don't want running easily and with confidence via htop.
I show you how to clear your swap or virtual memory whilst the system is still running, and as a bonus I show you how to extend your swap memory should you require more.
I then talk about how to restart your system and what the update and upgrade processes actually do to your distribution, talking about what packages actually are in the process.
