Ai image-generation platforms have been keeping their database in a black box. Questioning the ethics of the use of that database, and the fact that Ai is ultimately stealing images from artists and bashing them to create "new artwork" has been faced with shaming... but now it's becoming more evident that it's basically theft of art... which can make the future of artists super nightmarish!
I think there's we can learn from Ai, but clearly the line of ethics has been crossed, so badly, and without even any form of clarity, transparency, or of course any apologies.
More about that later, but for now, it's nice to see the art community on Artstation rising.
Also, worht noting, that Deviantart, the "lame" and "old" website, was more thoughtful and swift than Artstation, as it has opted its artists out of that Ai-theft; which is the right of every artist, IMO.
And for an added bonus, notice that there are few """"Artists"""" who are posting "YES to Ai"... all you need to do is to check their "portfolio"... the one I had the pleasure of checking turned out to be someone who has only Ai images in his portfolio! Well.. OF COURSE they want Ai to stay! The issue there is... that "artist" doesn't even make art for Ai to steal.
