The Imperial Fists, one of the original Legiones Astartes, are renowned for their mastery of siegecraft and unyielding defense. Under the leadership of their Primarch, Rogal Dorn, the Fists became the Emperor’s Sentinels, defending humanity across countless campaigns during the Great Crusade. Their defining moment came during the Horus Heresy when they were entrusted with the defense of Terra itself. Dorn’s leadership in fortifying the Imperial Palace against Horus’ forces became legendary, ensuring that the Imperium withstood the onslaught of Chaos. After the Heresy, Dorn initially resisted the division of the Legions under the Codex Astartes but eventually relented, splitting the Imperial Fists into smaller Chapters while preserving their role as stalwart defenders of the Imperium. In the millennia that followed, the Imperial Fists faced numerous challenges, from the Wars of the Beast to the Black Crusades of Abaddon. Their fortress-monastery, the Phalanx, became a symbol of their strength and a bastion of defense for the Segmentum Solar. With the opening of the Great Rift and the beginning of the Era Indomitus, the Fists continued their relentless defense of the Imperium, fighting in the Indomitus Crusade and repelling the Tyranids in the Fourth Tyrannic War. Bolstered by Primaris reinforcements, the Imperial Fists endure, carrying on the legacy of Dorn as the Imperium’s vigilant guardians.
