Connecting Avalanche to MetaMask | Avalanche Tutorials
MetaMask is a popular open-source, non-custodial crypto wallet that is widely used to carry out transactions on the Ethereum network. It can also be set up to interact with the Avalanche blockchain as well; in fact, MetaMask is one of the most common AVAX wallets. This tutorial will show you how to add the Avalanche network to MetaMask by using Custom RPC. You’ll be able to start using your MetaMask wallet on Avalanche right away.
First, however, you need to download MetaMask on your browser if you haven’t already. You can get MetaMask at its official website: https://metamask.io/. The wallet is available on Chrome, iOS, and Android.
We’ll assume you’ve installed the wallet but still need help on your AVAX MetaMask setup. Fortunately, it’s easy to connect Avalanche to MetaMask, and it should take just a few minutes of your time. The procedure goes like this:
1. Sign in.
2. Click the drop-down menu toward the top of your account page to change the network. By default, - MetaMask is configured to the Ethereum Mainnet, but you can alter this setting. Select "Custom RPC."
3. Select the "New Network" option and input the Avalanche data below into the provided form:
Network Name: Avalanche
New RPC URL: https://api.avax.network/ext/bc/C/rpc
Chain ID: 43114
Currency Symbol: AVAX
Block Explorer URL: https://cchain.explorer.avax.network
4. Press the “Save” button. You should now be connected to the Avalanche Mainnet. (You will see an error message if something goes wrong.)
Developers also have the option of adding Avalanche Fuji Testnet or the Avash shell client to MetaMask by inputting the relevant data on the Custom RPC page.
