We developed one board, USB power supply type, high-speed, high-precision proximity sensor. The sensor element, amplifier circuit, and communication circuit are mounted on a single board (CMOS custom chip and FPGA). The sensor can measure distance and two tilt angles within 1ms. The sensor is suitable for robot application such as control of fingertip position precisely at high speed. And the sensor enables high-precision depth scanning of a target surface. This work was conducted by a joint research project between Ishikawa Group Laboratory and Toyoda Gosei co., ltd.
