In today's video, I will be traveling to Panama City, Panama! Panama City, the capital of Panama, is a modern city framed by the Pacific Ocean and the man-made Panama Canal. Casco Viejo, its cobblestoned historic center, is famed for colonial-era landmarks like the neoclassical Palacio Presidencial and bougainvillea-filled plazas lined with cafes and bars. The Miraflores Locks offer views of ships traversing the canal, an essential shipping route linking the Atlantic and Pacific. I will be spending a couple of days here in Panama City and will show you what the city has to offer. Throughout my stay, we will visit Casco Viejo, Panama Viejo, Mercado de Mariscos, Cinta Costera, Ancon Hill, Amador Causeway, and more.
Today, we will explore Panama Viejo and Casco Viejo.Casco Antiguo, is also known as Casco Viejo or San Felipe, is the historic district of Panama City. Completed and settled in 1673, it was built following the near-total destruction of the original Panamá city, Panamá Viejo in 1671, when the latter was attacked by pirates. It was designated a World Heritage Site in 1997. Panamá Viejo, also known as Panamá la Vieja, is the remaining part of the original Panama City, the former capital of Panama, which was destroyed in 1671 by the Welsh privateer Henry Morgan. It is located in the suburbs of the current capital. Join me on this adventure through Panama!
