What is an image output?

In satellite data an image output is what processing is done from the raw image to the resulting image that you do your analysis on.

In terms of optical satellite data there are two main options for receiving your data.

The first is a raw, or multispectral/ hyperspectral format.

This will include all of the bands that were available on the satellite at the time of capturing the image.

The second option is a processed image. Either an index, which is a mathematically processed algorithm for some specific measurement, and the second is a composite.

It is some form of visual interpretable image such as a true colour image which uses the red, green and blue bands to form an image much like this camera is capturing right now.
