What is AOI?
AOI is an acronym for area of interest.
In EarthCache, this describes the location for which you are ordering satellite imagery.
In geospatial terms a location can be described in three different ways.
First, is as a point. A pair of GPS coordinates that describe the specific location of a single point on Earth.
The next is a line which is a series of points that describe, well, a line.
Finally, there is a polygon which is a series of points that form a closed shape.
In EarthCache there are a variety of different ways that you can import one of these shapes to order satellite data.
The first is by simply using that pair of GPS coordinates which EarthCache will draw a box around.
The next is using our drawing tools either to draw a rectangle or to draw a more complicated shape.
Finally, you can upload a shape using either a KML or a GeoJSON.
