The second place runner up of this year’s poetry slam final Suhaiymah Manzoor-Khan with the poem This Is Not A Humanising Poem.
Discover the next generation of spoken word talent as poets aged 16-25 take to the spotlight to compete for the much-coveted title of Roundhouse Poetry Slam champion 2017, now in its ninth year.
The event is a major highlight of The Last Word Festival and spoken word calendar, with previous years’ winners having gone on to become hugely successful spoken word poets and writers.
The final was hosted by funny man and star of new BBC3 series Happy Man, Jack Rooke and will be judged by award-winning writer Sabrina Mahfouz, poet and guardian columnist Bridget Minamore and Young People’s Laureate for London, Caleb Femi.
Featuring new work by established artists, rising talents and works-in-progress from home-grown performers, The Last Word shines the spotlight on themes of home, heritage, mental health, politics and musical journeys.
