Setting parents at the centre of malnutrition screening activities is critical for the early detection of malnutrition and referral processes. This is essential for child survival and development, ensuring children meet the desired outcomes at each stage of growth.

In Karamoja family-led mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) tape, where parents screen for malnutrition in their children, has streamlined the detection and referral of severe acute malnutrition and moderate acute malnutrition for assistances.

The initiative ensures that #NoChild suffers from malnutrition undetected.

Since 2023, with support from the Embassy of Ireland, ‪@UNICEF‬ has been running the Karamoja Early Childhood Nutrition (ECN) Response to address the ongoing nutrition crisis in the region and promote a healthy foundation for children’s growth and development
