The brilliant Oasis bar that's right in the heart of Bolton
This is the brilliant Oasis bar that's one massive nod to the band - and their debut album in particular.
Owned by Bolton's very own Gallagher brothers, Paul and Mark, Definitely Maybe took its name from Oasis's seminal first album.
The brothers, who are also five years apart in age, are lifelong fans of the band and wanted to pay homage to their fellow Gallaghers. Although they considered opening the bar in Manchester, they eventually settled upon an intimate spot in the heart of their hometown.
"I grew up listening to him blaring out Oasis," Mark, 38, said of his brother. "I'm Oasis but he's mad Oasis, he could tell you every fact about them.
Just a month after the brothers opened their bar in February 2020, the first lockdown struck. But after that false start, Definitely Maybe has gone on to become a roaring success - so much so that Paul and Mark decided to move the bar from its underground home in Mawdsley Street to a larger venue two years ago.
The new site, in Nelson Square, is an epic shrine to all things Oasis. Decked out head-to-toe in memorabilia, it's as much a museum as it is a bar. Almost every wall is adorned with album covers and posters advertising Knebworth, Maine Road and countless other concerts from down the years.
The bar's signage has received the blessing of Brian Cannon, who designed the Definitely Maybe album cover. Meanwhile, its cocktail menu includes Oasis-inspired tipples such as the 'She's Electric', the 'Pina Columbia' and the 'Strawberry Lemonade'.
