Why Don't You Protest? / Russians Abroad
In March 2023, protests erupted in Tbilisi, Georgia, against a law on foreign influence that was a copy of a Russian law. Many Russians living abroad, including in Tbilisi, joined the protests and successfully campaigned against the law's adoption. But why don't Russians fight for their rights in their own country? In this video, we ask Russians who have left their homeland to share their thoughts on why they think their compatriots are less likely to protest against injustices in Russia. We explore the reasons behind the lack of activism and compare the situation to the more vocal and active Georgian society.
