While accepting the Luigi de Laurentiis prize for Best Debut Film for 'Familiar Touch' at the Venice Film Festival, American director Sarah Friedland remarked, "As a Jewish American artist working in a time-based medium, I must acknowledge that I am accepting this award on the 336th day of Israel’s actions in Gaza and the 76th year of occupation."
