I was in 8th grade when I started watching Game of Thrones. Yes, I know, maybe a bit too young, but at that point seasons 1 and 2 of the show were out and it was starting to pick up a bit of steam. Being a huge fan of all things fantasy and seeing Boromir on the cover sitting on some throne made out of swords, I was immediately interested. And then I started watching it, thinking it would probably be a show on the same par as a lot of the other fantasy shows that I watched, that I personally loved, but everyone around me called it hot garbage. Around 30 minutes into the first episode, right around the time we meet Tyrion at the brothel, my little 13 year old mind was immediately hooked, obviously due to the story and not at all anything else about that scene. And I watched the entire season for certain aspects but what surprised me the most was how this was not, in fact, hot garbage. Soon After I got my family into the show and we watched the second season together, and watched it as a family for years after introducing many awkward moments in the years that followed. But with all the following seasons and now House of the Dragon, is Season 1 as good as you remember?
